RegHannay Posted 14 February , 2020 Share Posted 14 February , 2020 (edited) Hi, just wondering if there is any members who would know if Lone farm and Lone trench took their names from the cherry tree (lone tree) at or near Loos where a Seaforths officer was machine gunned placing a Union flag on the tree in April 1915. Is there a record of who this officer was? Does Captain Michael Algernon Fitzroy, D-coy 4th battalion Seaforth Highlanders Age 19, Died 17/04/1915 Cabaret Rouge British cemetery fit the bill ? Thanks to old thread from Anthony Osborne reference Capt Fitzroy 4th batt Seaforths is not the man. I can only find two casualties fitting the time, place and neither fit the bill Edited 14 February , 2020 by RegHannay added info
