Unidentified Major-General

I would be most grateful if anyone could shed light on the identity of this gent.  Looking at his epaulettes, he was evidently a Major-General.  I have reason to believe that the photo was taken in the Middle East.

 

Any help appreciated!

It is a photo postcard.  With no clues on the postcard itself, only what looks like Arabic script on one corner of the photo.

Thanks for your comments. I used Bing & Cortana digital search facility to find the pic. I have tried a few WIT without using the digital search trawling through many books.I feel

It would not be in the spirit of the game to use Bing or Cortana in WIT.
