fougassefilms Posted 10 February , 2020 Share Posted 10 February , 2020 At the moment I am researching First Army RE Parks and facilities behind the LOOS SALIENT. Many of the war diaries mention "HQ MINX", where equipment was either made, procured or repaired, some of it quite elaborate: drilling machines, wriggly tin sheet etc. Reading between the lines - no pun intended - it would seem to be in the vicinity of HOUCHIN although I can find no record of it as an establishment on-line, nor as an existing French settlement. What am I missing? best andy

brianmorris547 Posted 24 February , 2020 Share Posted 24 February , 2020 (edited) Well spotted, I did look for it. I spent some time some years ago looking for Fours a Chaux south of Houchin and Forum Member Sotonmate sent me a map from WO 153/145 which identified it. I also found the map again in a WD but did not make a note of where. NLS map 1:10 000 36 B NE 4 shows Cite de Verquin in the top left K5 and 6. This is from the modern day IGN 1:25 000 no 2405 O (Bethune) which shows the position between Bethune and Noeux les Mines.
