Remembered Today:

Causes of Discharge Under KR392

I know that KR 392 (xvi) means the cause of discharge is "No longer physically fit for service". However, what is KR392 (xvi a)? I'm looking at a page of a SWB roll that shows some of the soldiers discharged under (xvi) and some under (xvi a).

Grateful is someone can provide an explanation.

Cheers,

Jon

Jon,

Not a precise answer to your question but have a look HERE

May be of some use.

It's wonderful what you do not see until someone draws your attention to it! Unlike you, Jon, I never understood exactly what Paragraph 392, xvi (never mind the variations!) meant until I had read your post.

However, I have a 1918 copy of R D Pinkerton's book called "Ladies from Hell" and I was aware that he was dischared as 'no longer fit physically for war service'. Only now have I remembered that his Army Form E 511 is in the back of the book and that para 392, xvi is there explained.
