harley1962 Posted 7 February , 2020 Share Posted 7 February , 2020 A walk through a local graveyard in Scarborough i came across the grave of Sydney George Rudolph Curry ( sometimes spelt Sidney Randolph) it gave information he had been a Pte. in the York & Lancs and died after been discharged physically unfit. I could not find him on the CWGC site but there are details on ancestry with the different spellings but same number and regiment there is a war gratuity issued and also the slip for his plaque and scroll to be issued to his father. 20627 Pte. Sydney George York & Lancaster. Died 9 February 1919.
ss002d6252 Posted 7 February , 2020 Share Posted 7 February , 2020 The dependants pension record states he died 9 December 1919, a typo somewhere along the way https://www.fold3.com/image/668527710?terms=20627,1019 As he died after discharge it would need to be shown that this death was related to his service, if that wasn't/can't be shown then he would be not be eligible for a CWGC grave. Admin DavidOwen Posted 7 February , 2020 Admin Share Posted 7 February , 2020 A death certificate may answer the question of whether it was war related. Local newspaper may help too.
PaulC78 Posted 7 February , 2020 Share Posted 7 February , 2020 He was discharged with chronic dysentry and a GSW, and it looks like tuberculosis was also a factor.

Thanks Paul i did read on his service papers dysentry due to service in Gallipoli. Does the fact his father received a plaque and scroll mean the war office acknowledge his death was due to war service.
Bardess Posted 8 February , 2020 Share Posted 8 February , 2020 Hi and welcome to the Forum. You certainly have a goer here if his Death Cert shows TB as it states that both disabilities are due to service. Well done! I will tag IFCP for you @chrisharley9
chrisharley9 Posted 9 February , 2020 Share Posted 9 February , 2020 That indeed would be the next step to obtain the death certificate. If it confirms death aggravated or caused by military service then the case is a goer. Chris

harley1962 Posted 15 February , 2020 Author Share Posted 15 February , 2020 Death Certificate for Pte Sidney Curry showing cause of death pulmonary tuberculosis 12 months. Will this help with the IFCP ?
PaulC78 Posted 15 February , 2020 Share Posted 15 February , 2020 I would say so, report of Medical Board on 19/8/18 clearly states that tuberculosis was due to service, but @chrisharley9 or @Terry Denham will let you know for sure.
