Hi folks

i am trying to interpret these signatures, all found in john milnes book on the 1/4th Leicester’s, printed 1935, I have so far found 7, all 1/4th Leicester’s of course, I would like a hand with the others if you fancy a go.......

2nd from top.... looks like G.J. HAWG

3rd from top.... looks like J.E. SAVAES

5th from the top...looks like J.C HEADLEY/HEADLOW/HEADLEW

Bottom left.... not a clue what that looks like :-)

Bottom right..... looks like Harvey ? Kew?

would love your thoughts please

thanks in advance

andy

There was a John Thomas Headley a Private in the Leicestershire Regiment whose service file exists on FMP. It includes a lot of pension documentation but frustratingly I can't spot a signature to match it with.

Link I suspect any MIC may be under Labour Corps...

Are the two at the bottom including ranks? L Col and Gen(eral) ?

Or is it just my imagination....

Hi David, yes the bottom left does look like L Col & General, well spotted...….. should be easy then:huh:

Found J T Headley's signature in this record FMP Link aim let but not identical to my eye.

Ive just checked this man out and found his signature on ancestry, same as yourself, they don't look the same but I wont discount him, he attested with the leicesters then served with the Northants ten labour corps, and a Leicester man, good work David

This site suggests Lt Col J E Sarson for third one down.

That looks like our man David, it would also explain the messy signature, I did think that this signature was one of a old man and Sarson was about 91 in 1935, brilliant work

He was also Honorary Colonel of the 4th Battalion form 1925-37, a total of 77 years service, this would explain why he was at this meet of the 4th Battalion around 1935
