Remembered Today:

Tom Dinsdale 44711 Lincolns

Recommended Posts

I am hoping to find more information regarding Pte 44711 Tom Dinsdale (Lincolns).

He was born Tom but is sometimes known as Thomas Dinsdale on records.

He was born Hurworth, Durham, England  30th January 1899, but was brought up in Normanton, Wakefield, Yorkshire.

The only records available online are:

Medal rolls:

BMW and Victory Medal

Silver War Badge (Para 392 XVI WKR)

Date of Enlistment: 7th Oct 1916

Date of Discharge: 15th May 1919

He has a Pension Ledger Card

Reason: Disability

Military Service Region: North East, England

So it seems like Tom didn't serve abroad in the War?

Why would he be entitled to the Silver War Badge if it was wounds received at home?

Are there any references to how he was injured?

Are there any other records for Tom available?

Thank you very much in advance

Darin (Newcastle upon Tyne, England).

Hello Darin

He also served in the Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry as Private 85534 as per his other MIC Ancestry link

Other than that I can't add any more at present.

Good luck with your research

He was listed on War Office Daily List No.5681 dated 27/09/1918 as wounded whilst serving Lincolnshire Reg and next of kin..... Normanton.

Also states served overseas
