Less wide than Mark I owing to modified sponsons. Tank Cemetery, to the right and left of the road from Ypres to Menin, beyond Hooge; 14 tanks lie sunk in the mud. British tank 'Tiger' of the Palestinian Tank Detachment in concealment before the 3rd battle of Gaza, November 1917. This was the last time tanks were used in Palestine. Series of photographs, when published in the London newspapers, showed a tank in action for the first time, and garnered photographer Canadian Official War Photographer William Ivor Castle a 1000 pound prize.
