Army Regulations

Muerrisch

Recommended Posts

Many matters are covered in Regulations .

I have never seen a list of what was issued regarding Sovereign's, those for the VF, TF, Militia and Special Reserve. I collect all these as originals [not web] and I am sure that I do not have the full Monty.

I would be most grateful to know of others in the various series, and extremely grateful to know that members have copies in the gaps .... or even on the internet.

I also have many Army Orders but far from a complete set for our period of interest.

Here follows my book list. Thank you in advance.

I have only addressed GR, QR & KR for the period 1799 – 1933 in adding links / physical locations,

I’ve incorporated them in  Muerrisch's listing in chrono order as I would appreciate confirmation the listing below is exhaustive.

Is this an exhaustive listing for 1799 –1933 inclusive?

The FIBIS Fibiwiki page , section  Army Regulations, Equipment, Manuals etc is relevant

 https://wiki.fibis.org/w/Military_periodicals_online#Army_Regulations.2C_Equipment.2C_Manuals_etc

There is some overlap with what Peter35 has advised above, but some do not appear in Peter's list above such as

Various amendments and reprints of amendments to the King's Regulations published between 1916 and 1921. British Library Digital Collection. Click on “View the catalogue record” for more details.

Peter, thank you for your List. I will go through it, and perhaps make some additions to the Fibiwiki page, but in the very humid Sydney weather I am not doing very much. But if  you are the Peter who was active on the Victorian Wars Forum,  you are very likely in Sydney too.

Cheers

Maureen

Peter, I fear your "I would appreciate confirmation the listing below is exhaustive" cannot be achieved, as it is an unusual way of attempting to prove a negative.

Its a super list, and I have already dined at the table of some links, but we will never know about the ones that have been swallowed by the sands of time.

The following is just a suggestion about a possible online source. It is the Library Subscription website  which is usually called either  "U.K. Parliamentary Papers" or

"House of Commons Parliamentary Papers". The reason I suggest it as a possible source is that I know this database has some Army reports, so perhaps there is a possibility it may have Army regulations.

Many local and State Libraries subscribe to this database and NSW residents can access it as  "House of Commons Parliamentary Papers" on their home computer with a State Library of NSW card.

I have in the past accessed some interesting things, but I found the Search somewhat difficult.

There are some further details on the FIBIS Fibiwiki page Subscription websites-online newspapers, journals and directories, section Other British and Irish publications  https://wiki.fibis.org/w/Subscription_websites-online_newspapers,_journals_and_directories#Other_British_and_Irish_publications

Cheers

Maureen

The only hard copy that I own is titled something like...

King's Regulations for the Army 1912 incorporating amendments up to 5th August 1914.

It was published in October 1914.

It is stamped "Orderly Room 2/1 Scottish Horse"

Paid £18 about a year ago from a book fair in Winchester.

Regards

Alan.

Do the army orders list the issue of new uniform items?
