Would anyone happen to know the name of the Commanding Officer of No 85 Field Ambulance during late 1915 / early 1916. I have a scribbled not from him regarding the missing 2nd Lieutenant Percy Paris Pope, 1st Battalion Welsh Regiment.

I cannot decipher his name.

Thank you,

The war diary is signed by Lt. Col. J. R.(John Robert)  Whait M.B. Commanding Officer 85 (3rd City of London) Field Ambulance.  He was the C.O. in 1914, prior to embarkation of the unit and apparently had been with the unit since it’s formation.   In October 1915  their tour on the Western Front ended.

It appears he remained in command after they moved to Salonika as indicated by your note of the 20th December 1915.
