Hi,

As Coldstream has posted above, he has surviving service papers on FMP, also on Ancestry.

Hi

Officers did not have regimental numbers, unless promoted from the ranks and then only for medals issued while in the ranks.

Medal Index Card  for Lt. George McLauchlan is here - https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D3851610 , also on Ancestry and FMP.

His service records must still be with MOD as they are not indexed on National Archives UK.

regards

Robert

The version of the medal index card on ancestry has the back of the card as well, which gives (for officers) his address. Free from ancestry but you do need to register -wothout having to take a subscription. The Rolls are on ancestry are payable but free at your local library.
