Would anyone be able to tell me what `O.Z.A.' refers to in this address of Private Alan Stirling of the AOC?

Thank you

its says in the letter "at a place we call OZA" so might just be something a small group of people used

do you have a date for the letter ?  as no guesses I'll suggest Occupation Zone A but if it was before occupation its probably not that !

It was March 1917.

I believe it is a code referring to a railhead. I think this question has been asked...(edited) ... but not answered.

I can only find reference to when I mentioned it a couple of months ago when asking another question about Private Stirling.

Apologies, it sounded familiar. For reference it is mentioned (link below) here but it was not answered.

I don't think the letters stood for anything but were used as a reference to a railhead. I've not seen a list referring to where each one was located.

Many apologies

Colin

There is a short thread here on another code, not much is known on them or the relevance.

Thank you, yes I was just reading that thread about the XCA railhead you have linked to. That makes sense.

The other capital a occurrences in the letter are more lower case in form, rounded not A. Could it be O.Z.H. with the verticals not parallel?
