JMB1943 Posted 16 January , 2020 Share Posted 16 January , 2020 Bonjour Didier, Since nobody has answered your questions, I’ll jump in. 10 ‘12 = October, 1912 R.E. = Royal Engineers 1 = the rack number, i.e., which rifle this was for accounting procedures; Bayonets were also usually numbered similarly, so that the same bayonet (which fitted properly) was always paired with the correct rifle. 3 S. T. = Third (company?) S(upply?) Train or Transport? I am guessing at these abbreviations. I’m sure that an expert will be along soon to correct my errors. msdt Posted 16 January , 2020 Share Posted 16 January , 2020 Tough one, so many RE units. Been looking at S for Signals or T for Telegraph but nothing obvious, but in 1912 Telegraph became Signals in the RE. JMB - did you download the 1932 armourers data?
