Greetings from Sherwood Forest

Just to start the ball rolling . I suggest the Welsh Regiment

Assuming the cap badge and the button matched then there are I am afraid two candidates for what you have is the fleur de lys symbol of the Prince of Wales (as well as his motto 'Ich Dien'.)

Therefore it could either be 'The Welsh Regiment' or 'The Prince of Wales's Leinster Regiment (Royal Canadians)'

These two shared this symbol but with a scroll underneath denoting the different regiment (at least on the cap badge it did).

Sorry I cannot be of more help.

EDIT in light of Old Robin Hood's eply i have more carefully examined the button and the angle at which 'Ich Dien' is written it does indeed suggest The Welsh Regiment is more likely.

It is indeed from the Welsh Regiment and was also used on their mess dress uniform and in OSD bronze on SD caps at one stage.  However, identical buttons were worn on forage caps of the Leinster Regiment.
