PWG Posted 8 January , 2020 Share Posted 8 January , 2020 Hi, does anyone have any biographical information about the following soldier? He served for the Control Commission of Germany in LK Unna from 1945 - 1950.
Admin Michelle Young Posted 8 January , 2020 Admin Share Posted 8 January , 2020 Unfortunately this is off topic for the Forum which is First World War, unless he served during that conflict. Michelle
PWG Posted 8 January , 2020 Author Share Posted 8 January , 2020 Most of the British Kreis Resident Officers must have started serving in WWI as they had to have quite a military career and had to be around 50/retired to be posted. Thank you for noticing the problem.
HarryBrook Posted 8 January , 2020 Share Posted 8 January , 2020 Not much to go on and nothing to corroborate this, but a possibility may be Francis Barrington Baker, M.B.E., Hon Lt.-Col. at retirement from the Regular Army Reserve of Officers, Royal Army Pay Corps 15 October 1947 https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/38375/supplement/4430 He was born on 15 October 1892, died in Bordon, Hampshire on 31 July 1973. Gazetted 2nd Lt. 23 September 1914 https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/28918/page/7689 He served overseas with the York and Lancaster Regt. (there is a medal index card for him under F. B. Baker - 1915-15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal and Silver War Badge) Made M.B.E. for services in Military Record Offices in the United Kingdom, March 1919 https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/31232/supplement/3571
