Moonraker Posted 5 January , 2020 Share Posted 5 January , 2020 Today a walk took me through the Berkshire village of Aldermaston and to the local church, where I noticed a grave to 3rd Air Mechanic Arthur Scutter. Somewhat precariously attached to it was a photo of young man in Boy Scout's uniform, which I presume was Arthur as a lad. I can't recall seeing this before on WWI graves in English churchyards. Has anyone? My first thought was that a family member had left the photograph and wondered whether that person lived locally. Later, I realised that someone in the village might have researched Arthur and found a photo of him and placed a copy on the grave. Arthur's grave is listed on several websites, with little extra detail save his mother's address in Aldermaston and his being at the Recruits Depot at the time of his death at the age of 20.
