Trooper B Posted 27 December , 2019 Share Posted 27 December , 2019 Hi all, I have the medal pair, several letters and wound card for 44292 Pte George Parkinson who despite appearing to come from Lincolnshire served in 2nd SWB and was wounded around 31st Jan 1917. The letters only state that they were in the line when a shell landed in their trench causing numerous casualties/fatalities. Does anyone know where 2SWB were ‘in the line’ around the end of January 1917 please? Regards Trooper B

clk Posted 27 December , 2019 Share Posted 27 December , 2019 (edited) Hi Trooper B, 1 hour ago, Trooper B said: ...wounded around 31st Jan 1917 FMP (link) have a MH 106 record for him, which reads as: First name(s): G Last name: Parkinson Age: 29 Service number: 44292 Rank: Private Unit: "SWB"/South Wales Borderers (mis-transcribed in the FMP transcription as 'Border Regiment') Battalion: 2 Company: 'D' Admission date: 29.1.1917 - 34 Casualty Clearing Station Transferred to: 11 Ambulance Train 30.1.1917 Ailment: "GSW leg (l) foot (l)" Age: 29 Completed service: 8 months/1 month in the field It would appear that he recovered from his wounds, and was 'recycled' to the RE as his medal roll record shows: Image sourced from Ancestry Regards Chris Edited 27 December , 2019 by clk
