petestarling Posted 20 December , 2019 Share Posted 20 December , 2019 I am trying to find the location of 199 Siege battery on 3 August 1917 and in particular how Capt GW Lovell was wounded - was it counter battery fire? From previous posts I deduce that the battery was then part of 93 HAG but I can not find a war diary for the group in the National Archives. Any ideas of a war diary reference at TNA would be appreciated.

ororkep Posted 20 December , 2019 Share Posted 20 December , 2019 Pete you will have realised by now if you have got the WD referenced that unfortunately the months you need in it are missing completely. However it is the Capt GW LOVELL that interests me: are you referring to Geo Wortley? If so what is it you hold that tells you he was in 199 Sge Bty? ororkep Posted 21 December , 2019 Share Posted 21 December , 2019 Thank you Pete, Its just that once I noted his DoE on MiC which was obviously before 199 entered a theatre I realised I had him on an entry nominal for 62 Sge Bty. And while I have not seen his service record he is also on a nominal for same battery dated Armistice 11.11.18. Does his record confirm this or attachment to 199? As for 199 there is also no mention in the Corps WD either which was XIV Corps.
