Mangoman Posted 9 December , 2019 Share Posted 9 December , 2019 Strange quesion I know but would a soldier have been given furlough following the birth of his first child?
Dai Bach y Sowldiwr Posted 9 December , 2019 Share Posted 9 December , 2019 No. Having said that, it must have happened by chance on many occasions. But as policy? No.
JasonMc Posted 9 December , 2019 Share Posted 9 December , 2019 Not his first child, but my Great Grandfather didn't get any furlough when my grandmother was born early in the war. Unfortunately she was raised having never met him as he didn't survive and got no trip home to visit. So I'd also agree that it must not have been a policy. sassenach Posted 10 December , 2019 Share Posted 10 December , 2019 If there had been any such policy I wouldn't have fancied the job of administering and policing it.
Coldstreamer Posted 10 December , 2019 Share Posted 10 December , 2019 100 years ago it was pretty impractical if it was policy which Im sure it wasnt - its not like now that you can just hop on a plane from anywhere in the world and get home in a day
