Identify artillery piece please

Can someone identify this artillery piece, please . I assume it is WW1.

On closer inspection is has the name Spitfire painted on it, possibly a nickname and maybe a unit marker in the form of a trident or pitchfork

It's a British BL Howitzer.

9.2" possibly

Don't think it's a 15", but maybe wrong.

Your photo seems better quality than Oxford Uni's shot.

There is more writing on the side of the gun mounting.

I wonder what it says?

The writing looks as though it says "Overhauled ?4/4/18" or similar.

The trident is probably a battery identifier.

Unfortunately lists of such unit markings are incomplete.

Yes,  BL 9.2 Mk 11  -With the longer barrel.  4 pronged spear a bit of a mystery.

I agree with that, both images appear to have the writing on but the location is different

That's interesting Paul.

The logo for 118 SB was "Crown Nine", a Crown, with the number 9 beneath.
