Paul Chapman #1 Posted 28 November Good afternoon, I am attempting, without much luck, to pinpoint - or as near as possible - two map co-ordinates regarding exhumations; they refer to Ypres, 1917. References 28.I.16.b.5.5 and 28.I.16.d.5.5 : I believe them to be in the vicinity of Gordon House - Leinster Farm, and within a few feet of each other. Can anyone assist with a positioning of these please?
TEW #2 Posted 28 November Well, unless there's an error somewhere the 2nd ref is 500 yards South of the 1st. And they are both indicating a 50x50 yard square. TEW
JasonMc #3 Posted 28 November Both are 50 yard squares 500 yards apart as TEW notes above. I made yellow dots to mark the general area and yes they are both near Gordon House.
JasonMc #4 Posted 28 November Here's the current views of both areas from streetview.
WhiteStarLine #5 Posted 29 November Hi Paul, If you go to preview.tmapper.com you can convert these yourself and select different trench map overlays from the National Library of Scotland. I chose a Street View location roughly halfway between the two and a May 1917 trench map:
