Alisonmallen62 Posted 21 November , 2019 Share Posted 21 November , 2019 How wonderful to see that a memorial plaque at a former ironworks has been found in what looks like good condition. Saw it on the news today. Just wondered if anyone on the forum had been approached to identify family or give war details of the fallen. Interesting project and I wonder how many more are out there somewhere. Vague recollection of someone on the forum who was trying to rescue these plaques. RaySearching Posted 21 November , 2019 Share Posted 21 November , 2019 (edited) Found ! It was never lost It hung in Saumelson's (Sammys) working mens club, Parliament Road Middlesbrough for decades until the club closed a few years back, it was then removed and placed in storage in the Dormans Museum when the club closed a couple of years ago I understand it is now going to be renovated Journalists, don't always let accuracy get in the way of a good story Ray Edit Here is a link to a photo of the war memorial in its original location Sammy's club By Bolckow on Flicker Edited 21 November , 2019 by RaySearching
