1914 Great War Tribute Medal by Sir Frederick Lucas Cooke Textile-Trading Co 


A scarce end of the 'Great War Tribute medal' presented by 'Frederick Lucas Cooke' to his textile workers who enlisted in the first year of the war to 'Do Their Bit '; bronze cross, embossed to the obverse with 'Loyalty' across the arms, "22" above and "1914" below; the reverse 'Presented To H.Smith By F.L.C'. Housed in its original velvet lined fitted leather presentation case with gold tooling to the lid "H.Smith 1914"

 That's amazing , I would like to think that it was from the Fijian Labour Corps but what would it being doing in Somerset is another matter.

 I think I am about to learn a lot about the Fijian Labour Corps.

Seems that the alternative option proffered is more likely - either way I've never seen one before.

 You are probably right but the romantic in me wants the Fijian angle but I will follow both angels.
