superblue Posted 15 November , 2019 Share Posted 15 November , 2019 Hi. I recently purchased a mixed lot of medals, only one of which I wanted. The others I will move on. One that has me a little puzzled is this chap which I thought I’d research before selling. This is completey out of my collecting interest. He is F 2552 Pte. Thomas Ivor Roberts. I believe that the F is a Footballers Battalion prefix- so 17th and 23rd but his Medal Rolls indicate that he served with 16th and 1/7th Btns of the same Regiment. Is this simply a case of him originally enlisting with one of the Footballers Btns and then transferring to the above? Thanks in advance Shane
Brucass Posted 15 November , 2019 Share Posted 15 November , 2019 Hi Shane Yes, enlisted into the Footballers and then if and when battalions needed reinforcements the he would have been transferred but still retained his number. Paul
