Hi can any one help me with the location and activities of the 25th Bn on or around 26th Feb 1916 please? They had only been in theatre a few weeks [landed France mid Jan 1916]. Thanks in advance.  Paul

The diary records (summary)

In the line 22 Feb (location later)

23/24 Some shelling, one man wounded by a sniper

25 Feb Quiet day one man wounded himself, faulty safety catch.

26 Feb Some firing by our artillery in the afternoon.  Pte Heron A Company killed (bare statement, no cause given)  Out of the line at 9 pm.

The line was to the west of Armentieres running between the two yellow circles on the trench map on the attached courtesy tmapper and NLS).

My French brother in law is in Nieppe close to Armentieres. The men of the battalion stayed there a lot I believe.My grandfather was  24th and was staying in the area.
