Hugh Pattenden Posted 12 November , 2019 Share Posted 12 November , 2019 Dear all, I noticed (whilst looking for something else) that there is an unknown major, RFA, DSO, MC, buried here. https://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/328684/thrower,-william/#&gid=null&pid=1 (Concentration report, grave 3 H 8) Surely there cannot be too many of them missing? Hugh. Interesting. I can't immediately find any RFA MC DSO Majors without a grave in France. 8 in total, all in marked graves. Is it possible that the sheet with the concentration report for Thrower and the unknown officer (dated 1919) was amended sometime after Thrower's burial, and after (I'm guessing) the unknown RFA Major was identified and a headstone marked his grave? Either that, or, his Regiment, rank or ribbons were misidntified?

Edit: Royal Horse Artillery according to CWGC rather than RFA. Date and place fit, and he is buried 5 graves along from Thrower (post #1).
