rolt968 Posted 8 November , 2019 Share Posted 8 November , 2019 I see from the 1915 Valuation Rolls that the father of two of the men I am researching was a "strapper". Before that he was a ploughman/ horseman on a (series) of farms moving around quite a lot. Later he was a roadman/ surfaceman. I see that "strapper" has been discussed on the forum in the context of the ASC where it meant groom or stableman. Did this also apply to civilian life? At first I thought it was an odd occupation to take on in middle age, but not that odd if he was used to handing horses on farms. RM
