Remembered Today:

Great War Victory Medal Identification.

Alongside my Grandfathers Victory Medal is another which i'm trying to identify. It appears that the inscriptions around the edge have been deliberately damaged. I can only make out a few letters but the last 3 letters appear to spell out 'WAR' where the regiment would be. Any ideas what that could be ?

Maybe Warwickshire Regiment?

the two possibilities that come to my mind is :- R. WAR. R. or WARWICK. YEO.  (Royal Warwickshire Regiment or Warwickshire Yeomanry). As there is a full stop after WAR. then the former former is the most likely.

Very interesting Jim. There appears to be 2 full stops after WAR.   . but not enough space for three letters. There does seem to be the remnants of a letter, I initially thought a T or Y, in the middle of the dots.
