OLD ROBIN HOOD Posted 28 October , 2019 Share Posted 28 October , 2019 Greetings from the sunny Forest of Sherwood. I don't know if I have put this post under the right heading but here goes anyway. Some of you may have noticed that I have posted a image of a 1903 bayonet in my collection . It was issued to the 97th Coy of the Royal Engineers . I have not been able to find anything about this unit so if any of you have any details of their formation or WW 1 service I would be glad to know. jay dubaya Posted 28 October , 2019 Share Posted 28 October , 2019 The 97th FC RE was raised as a K4 unit and became part of the 30th Division, by January 1915 it had been transferred to the 21st Division and went overseas with this division landing at Le Harve on 11th September 1915. They remained on the Western Front for the duration until they returned to the UK on 28th April 1919. J
