Hi,

Could anyone decipher the signature and identify this member of 508th Howitzer Battery Please.

508th went to France 8/12/1916 to be re-named "D" Battery of 38th Brigade.

Thanks Kim,

S.C.Dyer was my thought too: I kept quiet as I didn't want to influence a second opinion.

The Service Record for 112542 Bombardier Stephen Charles Dyer of 508th (How.) Battery has survived. Subsequently promoted to Corporal then Sergeant.

That is incorrect. It landed in France on November 6, 1916 and was attached to 159th Brigade RFA. On that brigade being relieved by 9th Division it joined 52nd Brigade RFA on December 6, 1916 as B (H)/52. When it became an Army Brigade on January 8, 1917 the battery was renamed D (H)/52. It was 506th (How.) Battery which became D/38. I see that the LLT has this erroneous entry.
