Hi,

I am trying to locate the place where Guardsman Martin Murphy (7618) may have been killed in action of this date. All clues helpful

Thank you

Gerard

The 2nd Irish Guards war diary has five pages on the Hohenzollern action on 21 October 1915, which is almost illegible. Fortunately, Rudyard Kilping's History of the Irish Guards (vol. 2, 2nd Irish Guards, pp.33-38) has quite a detailed several-page account, which should help you to estimate where he died.

As for Martin being W. He is definitely Martin. His medal card relects Michael. His Birth Cert is Martin. We will be in contact with CWGC to seek a change. Thank you though
