Mates,

Do you have any details on this German unit?

I show a number who died in Turkey and wondered how they got there?

Bodich or Bodisch Daniel    Pte    1Co/IB Schweidnitz - Landsturm-Infanterie-Bataillon Schweidnitz (VI. 20.)    1917-18    (1872 at Polanowitz - died 30-11-18 in the Laz skutari) grave at Tarabya Istanbul cause not stated?

Kurz Wilhelm    Sgt    1Co/IB Schweidnitz - Landsturm-Infanterie-Bataillon Schweidnitz (VI. 20.)    1917-18    (1882 - died 30-12-18 in the Laz Skutari) cause not stated? grave at Tarabya Istanbul

Rantz Heinrich    Sgt    1Co/IB Schweidnitz - Landsturm-Infanterie-Bataillon Schweidnitz (VI. 20.)    1917-18    (1891 at Sulz - died 24-11-18 in the Laz Skutari) cause not stated? grave at Tarabya Istanbul

I have a number also died around these dates but unsure where they were buried?

Cheers

Hello,

The unit was active in the Militärverwaltung Rumaniën and Etappen-Inspektion 11 (also Romania) from late 1916 until late 1918.

Jan,

Thank you that helps, the sick must have been sent to German hosp in Turkey?

Why such a long way?

I did notice a few men from the "Etappe Gleisspitze"

Kilian Johann    Pte    Etappe Gleisspitze    1917-18    (1888 at Ellrichshausen died 30-12-18 in the Laz Skutari) grave at Tarabya Istanbul cause not stated?

The translation (Etappe Gleisspitze) makes no sence?

Were these also sent from Romania?

Any ideas
