Remembered Today:

No. 3 Labour Company 1919-21

Can anyone help?

I would like to know more about the unit above, which was responsible for the exhumation of bodies in the Guillemont area, post-war.

Would the Labour Companies have kept a war diary? Is there likely to be any documentation relating to their work still in existence? Anything at TNA, perhaps?

Any advice on any other sources would be appreciated.

As they were not at war, no requirement to keep a war diary.

If you have not seen it there is an article by Peter Hodgkinson on the LLT describing their work in general terms.

https://www.longlongtrail.co.uk/burial-clearance-and-burial/

The original online article which includes extensive references can be found at

http://www.vlib.us/wwi/resources/clearingthedead.html

Most of the cited references for this period seem to come from the CWGC Archive
