A History of the Durham Light Infantry

Thanks; I do know what you mean, as the only books I can find (from, I admit, a very brief search) all deal with individual Battalions.

I'm looking for something like the several "single volume" histories of the South Wales Borderers / Royal Welsh Fusiliers / Royal Regiment of Wales - does anyone know of anything, please?

'Faithful' by Poett is a one volume history.  Necessarily broad brush.

An excellent history and analysis of the role of the D.L.I. on the Somme by John Bilcliffe ca be found free to download here,

https://www.durhamatwar.org.uk/story/12770/

the links to the documents at the at the very bottom of the page are easily missed so I’ve included them below.

The Durham at war website, https://www.durhamatwar.org.uk/ , is a very good source of general information with many individual stories.

Yes, that's the kind of thing I'd like - thanks.

Thanks also to Doug504.

It is widely available.  You will have little trouble getting hold of a copy.
