Rob Chester Posted 22 September , 2019 Share Posted 22 September , 2019 Hello, Does anyone know where I might find a list of Doctors serving with the 25th Field Ambulance in Salonika in March 1916. Thanks Rob
Admin DavidOwen Posted 22 September , 2019 Admin Share Posted 22 September , 2019 Are you sure it is 25th you need as LLT and Wartime Memories suggest 25th (2nd Wessex) Field Ambulance were in France for the duration? https://www.longlongtrail.co.uk/soldiers/a-soldiers-life-1914-1918/the-evacuation-chain-for-wounded-and-sick-soldiers/field-ambulances-in-the-first-world-war/ https://wartimememoriesproject.com/greatwar/allied/ramcunit.php?pid=12787
MaxD Posted 22 September , 2019 Share Posted 22 September , 2019 Perhaps mistaken for 25 Casualty Clearing Station which was among the Salonika medical facilities according to an earlier GWF thread. Max
Rob Chester Posted 22 September , 2019 Author Share Posted 22 September , 2019 Hello David, Hello Max, I am trying to identify an RAMC officer mentioned in a letter that I have. I believe the name is Dr Dewar - its hard to read the hand writing - he is described as having served with the 10th Division in Serbia and being with the 25th Field Ambulance. As you say I have now found the 25th was nowhere near Salonika. The man in question was also at Imbros during the Gallipoli campaign - from google it seems that the 25th Casualty Clearing Station was also there so that seems more likely than the 2/5 London Field Ambulance which was my other thought. Do you know if the 25th CC was in Serbia with the 10th Division? Rob
charlie962 Posted 22 September , 2019 Share Posted 22 September , 2019 (edited) This man might be worth following up ? Charlie Edit- Glasgow Medical Jnl 1917 adds this: Temporary Captain R. S. Dewar, M.B., Ch.B.Glasg. (1905), R.A.M.C, is a well-known practitioner in Govan, and holds the post of dispensary surgeon to Glasgow Royal Infirmary. He was MiD again in 1917.
