noe Posted 17 September , 2019 Share Posted 17 September , 2019 My children whom are still quite young find the subject of the Great War fascinating and recently watched the film 'My boy Jack' in which I've read since in some aspects is inaccurate. Never the less, we have a trip planned to go to Belgium as they wish to visit John Kiplings final resting place that I know is St Mary's ADS cemetery. But also we want to visit where he fought and fell. After some internet research I found the location is Chalk Pit Wood, Hill 70. To pinpoint, map reference “H.25.c.6.8” ( I don't really understand the map co-ordinates) but since found in this location is a now a airfield next to Parc des cytises, is this correct? More importantly what would be the best spot/location to stop and view this area of the Loos battlefield of where John Kipling fought. Thank you for any help

Here is c.6.8 and c.5.7 (mentioned in the existing thread) and located where you thought. My Google Street View skills are very low, so it may be as shown or I may be totally wrong:

Off-topic posts are subject to immediate deletion. Technically, Michelle's post was relevant: the OP mentioned Le Parc des Cytises and Michelle posted a picture of one of the inmates. My post, too, could, at a stretch, be counted relevant as, not knowing what Le Parc des Cytises was, I posted a flippant rejoinder to Michelle's post so I'm happy for that to be deleted if Mods wish.
