Felix C Posted 16 September , 2019 Posted 16 September , 2019 (edited) Is there one? The well known ones are retold/rewritten repeatedly. Is that is what is inside ADM 131/85 Description: Special service vessels and "Q" ships: engagements with enemy submarines; first idea of "Q" ships and fitting out. Lörscher Posted 21 September , 2019 Posted 21 September , 2019 Hello Felix, well, I don't know of any lists of engagements to be true, apart from some within several books, maybe, but these, as you said, in parts are obsolete in one way or another This ADM 131 file of course just will deal with engagements from Q-ships from Plymouth station up to a given date, at least that is what I would expect from such a file ... Felix C Posted 21 September , 2019 Author Posted 21 September , 2019 Thanks. Since the original post I acquired ADM 137/4056, Movements of `Q' ships Date: 1916-1918 and beneath each ship entry there is the briefest summary of service to include contacts. I suppose I could make a list of those.

Felix C Posted 21 September , 2019 Author Posted 21 September , 2019 Of course, those are the known. Now It is a case of sifting through many papers to obtain the list of the lesser known ones.
Hyacinth1326 Posted 21 September , 2019 Posted 21 September , 2019 Stick with the summarised info in the Staff Monographs. Use it as a point of departure for reference to ship logs.
Felix C Posted 23 September , 2019 Author Posted 23 September , 2019 Thanks to all. Staff Monos are awesome for Home Water ops. Too bad no 1918 vol.. Wonder if there is a initial draft somewhere.
Hyacinth1326 Posted 24 September , 2019 Posted 24 September , 2019 (edited) No. There are some technical histories in ADM 275/20 which certainly contain source material for the 1917 volumes and of course summaries of coast activities in various Auxiliary Patrol war diaries covering 1918. It just depends what you are after and which locale the action took place. You could usefully examine ADM137/4142-4150. Equally consistent is the Admiralty Controlled Book C.B. 01486 O.X.O. which details the actions between “Q” Ships and U-boats throughout the war ( ADM186/430).
