Can anyone add any more information on this guy. This is all I have. When exactly was he born and when did he die.

Stanley George Rowles was born about 1874 probably in India, the son of John William Rowles.
There is no birth registration in Britain for this man.

He enlisted in the Army Service Corps Remounts on 2nd April 1915. He gave his age as 27 years 11 months and his address as The Street, Cuxton, Medway, Kent. He gave his occupation as ‘Painter and Carter’.  His I.D. card states that in 1920 he is age 46.

He was court-martialed on 4th October 1915 at Romsey. (Offence unknown)

He was sent to France on 18th January 1916. He gave his next of kin as Mrs Lizzie Randall (sister) at 8 Tassels Cottage, London Road, Maidstone. He deserted on 18th August 1916.
He was court-martialed om 11th October 1916 at Woolwich.
At his trial he was sentenced to 9 months imprisonment. He was then sent to India and served there from 26th December 1916 until 16th September 1920.

He married Winifred Violet Farmer at Bangalore, Madras, India on 14th August 1917.
He gave his father’s name as John William Rowles, deceased.
His age is given as 43 which means he would have been born c1874.
He gave his permanent address as Bangalore, and his rank as ‘Roughrider’, A.S.C.

They had a daughter, Winifred Maud, born 23rd June 1918. She died on 19th May 1919 at Murree, Bengal, India.

The only thing I can add at this stage is there was a Stanley George Rowles baptised in 1920, at the Nowshera Christ Church, Bengal.

Edit just found an article in the British Newspaper Archive from 1912...The age is wrong ,he gives it as 32...but his occupation is painter. He is sentenced to 3 years.

Edit 2...born 1877 at Cuxton, Kent....plenty of aliases to go at.

If it is the same man in 1906 he is (allegedly) 29 and a painter also married using the name Albert Edward Diprose by the look of things.

Oh well played. Looks like another one of our characters!

Service in the RMLI 1893-1896 (as Edward Alban Diprose) , discharged in ignominy, of course - https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D7766596

Great stuff IPT....I've found an Edward Diprose ( no middle name given) born 1877 at Cuxton....fathers name, John William.

Presumably him in the workhouse in February 1909 - Edward Albert Diprose, aged 32, East Street, Bromley, married, painter.  Wife Elizabeth, Victoria Road, Brentford.

Likely died 1945 in Dover.

(I bet the OP is very glad he's not a real Rowles)

He's a bit unsavoury, this one.

There might just be another twist...according to this report from June 1907, if I am reading it correctly, the Police say Diprose's real name actually is Edward John Velvick.

Velvick seems to have existed and was in the Labour Corps in WW1 and his occupation is Ironmongery manager.

He's possibly a cousin? Seems to have started life as Edward John Diprose, son of Robert J Diprose and Elizabeth Velvick.

I'm losing track of it all now.

I can't thank you two guys enough for all the superb information you managed to find.

I had no idea that this soldier was such a cad.

Thieving, bigamy, desertion, what disaster his life was.

Most soldiers merit 1 page but it took 3 pages to fit everything in for this chap.

I have to say that I am very pleased he was not really a ROWLES.

I have found one or two scallies along the way but nothing to  compare with this.
