Postcard

Hello all,

I recently purchased a scrap book of mainly newspaper cuttings from 1914/15 but had a few letters and a postcard as well.

The postcard was from Major Edward Hennah Langham, 5th Royal Sussex Regt.

It's dated 19/8/15 and says (I think):-

Many thanks for the box of cigars just received + most excellent.

We are just off to join another (army?) in another part of the line and shall

not be sorry to leave Flanders and its (mosquitoes ?).

This is a village where we were billeted twice! Rather airy isn't it?

Love to all Teddy.

Hope it's of interest,

Cam.

Ditto, also "Army" - and "mosquitoes", which is an interesting bit of domestic background (unless it's a cunningly coded reference to shells or whatever, I suppose).

Thanks for your replies.

I have a letter from Major Langham which I'll post soon. It'll be interesting to see what else I can get wrong:D.

Many thanks

Cam
