Trench Location

Ladies Gents,

I wonder if anyone can help me please.

The 12 Bn The Manchester Regiment War diary states:

23/07/15, (Ypres salient). attached for instruction in trench warfare to Liverpool Scottish (TF)  and sent platoons into trenches for instruction.  Here we met the 2nd Bn Manchesters.

Would anyone, have a location trench etc, where this instruction took place.

I appreciate any help in this matter

Gaz

As Ouderdom is mentioned just above in the diary on the 21st I guess somewhere around there, slightly south west of Ypres

The WD of 52 Infantry Brigade (17 Div) records that the Bns were attached to 9 Infantry Brigade (3 Div ) for instruction from 23/07/1915 to 29/07/1915. The front held by 9 IB was from Vierstaat to Wytschaete road opposite St Eloi. 52 IB Order no 6 records that the troops would be met by guides at map ref H 34 a 0 8 (which is on the road at Dikkebus close to the lake). No maps in the WD of 52 IB and I can not find July 1915 in the WD of 9 IB.

The answer is in the WD of the Liverpool Scottish,

It may be these trenches marked on a 41st Division map, I cannot say for sure at present
