AW Goozee was 9 months old when his father was killed at the start of the 100 days. He wasn't deterred by this event and I believe he joined the Paras. when the next war broke out. I think he was injured and maybe captured in North Africa but I'm know that in 1948 he took advantage of the assisted passage scheme to NZ where he eventually settled down as a postman in Christchurch. Henry Richard Goozee, a cooper from Bermondsey was his father and my grandfather and AW Goozee (Arthur Walter) was my uncle. I'm 74 and for various reasons I have just found all this out. If anyone has any information about any of the Goozee's I'd be pleased to hear from you. By the way, in case you're wondering, at the time of the Poll Tax in the reign of Richard the Second, people were given taxable identities in a variety of ways. Some of you will be Butchers and some of you will be Bakers - the Goozee's were the guys who looked after the Geese!
