nfh249 Posted 9 September , 2019 Posted 9 September , 2019 (edited) I saw this over the weekend hanging on the wall at Gunby Hall in Lincolnshire, the country seat of Field Marshal Sir Archibald Armar Montgomery-Massingberd and thought it might be of interest to someone. jay dubaya Posted 9 September , 2019 Posted 9 September , 2019 The Fourth Army was formed on 5th February 1916. The boar’s head sign was adopted in the spring of 1917 by General Rawlinson who had just returned from a short leave spent in the south of France in boar hunting. For a long time ‘Rawly’ a pet boar, love at Army HQ, but the coming of peace necessitated Rawly’s transfer to the zoo. J
