Am on the Caledonian Sleeper as I write. Heading for Dumfries (tomorrow) and Gatehouse of Fleet (Saturday to Friday).

Anything GW-related and accessible to see? We'll have a hire car.

Eastriggs, Dumfries is home to the Devils Porridge museum.

Welcome to Scotland!

Not WW1 but there is the curiosity of an Australian serviceman killed in Viet Nam commemorated on one of the Dumfries war memorials.

I'll second the Devil's Porridge Museum.

Edit: if you are at Eastriggs for the museum, Quintinshill Memorial is nearby.

I'm not sure exactly where they are but there are two memorials to the Quintinshill Disaster near to the site. I believe that the passing loops are still there.

Edit: I hope the Caledonian Sleeper has been behaving itself!

The memorial cairn is in the courtyard of the Gretna Green blacksmith's place, apparently.
