TeeJF Posted 30 August , 2019 Posted 30 August , 2019 Hi everyone, We are visiting France and Belgium in a few weeks to trace the footsteps of a relative who served in the 1st Gloucesters and went out in August 1914. I have been looking to try and locate where the railhead was at Le Nouvion and have a rough idea. I contacted the town council to see if they had any old photos of the town from around 1914, or can confirm where the station was, but they have not responded. Does anyone have any photos or extra info that may help me make sure that I have got the right position? I am also struggling with the exact position for the trenches they dug at Haulchin. I know that they were overlooking the crossroads at the north of the town, but again the council have not been forthcoming with any info as to whether the town/roads were the same in 1914. I will be grateful for any help as I want to make the trip as special as possible for hubby! Many thanks, Tracy.
