Hi all,

I am beginning to research a Jemadar, later Subedar of the 7th Gurkha Rifles and have to admit - I am a little out of my comfort zone.

I know from the Indian Army List of January 1920 that he enlisted in November 1898 and was promoted to Jemadar in October 1915. I believe he served in Egypt in 1915 with the 1st Battalion before transferring to the 2nd serving in Mesopotamia and Palestine 1916-18.

Having searched online, I can find no regimental history to check, nor many references to their time during the First World War. Most online references focus on their annihilation at Kut but really stops there.

Any help or references would be gratefully received.

Kind regards,

Daniel
