The Dark Posted 18 August , 2019 Share Posted 18 August , 2019 Reading up recently on both the offensive and defensive diskushandgranate, I noticed that sources list the amount of explosive, but not the type. Did these use Donnerite like the early stick and rifle grenades, or was there a different filler for them?
14276265 Posted 18 August , 2019 Share Posted 18 August , 2019 (edited) In Patrice Delhomme's book "German Grenades of the Great War", he claims Tolite was used in the offensive discus and a chlorated explosive (probably similar to the French explosive Cheddite) was used in the defensive one. However, while Delhomme's books on British, German and French WWI grenades were good starting points when they were first published in the early 1980s, they are not the most accurate of sources.
