Thank you so much for the research conducted. A man who died to preserve the flag I know and love today. I do not doubt you, but I would like to believe the other man is from 1914 - 1918. I will see if I can find any other clues. Merci mille fois.
Tomb1302 Posted 12 October , 2019 Author Share Posted 12 October , 2019 @battle of loos Looking very closely at a number of other ones, I don't see any other button with the flaming grenade. This leads me to believe it is very difficult to make out and in fact impossible to deduce. Surely this photo here isn't post 1921 as well, despite no indication of a different button style? battle of loos Posted 12 October , 2019 Share Posted 12 October , 2019 (edited) very nice picture. the date are end 1915 & start 1916 the soldiers button : the buttons presented were found in Artois. sector held by the French from October 1914 to February 1916 1 - 2 - 3 : blue ceramics - bones 1 :Aluminum 1 : ersatz canvas jacket - drudgery pants and wooden hoofs. he holds a 75 mm minenwerfer shell another men : in cooper in this photo, we are in the presence of reservist sad. there must be gunners in this group of infantrymen. the one with the kepi seems to me to be an officer. because of its kepi and removable stripe on the bottom of its sleeves. regards michel Edited 12 October , 2019 by battle of loos

Jools mckenna Posted 22 October , 2019 Share Posted 22 October , 2019 (edited) This man looks to be wearing a "Intendance" corps badge on his Adrain. And also any help finding out who Robert Clauss was, would be greatly appreciated! Edited 22 October , 2019 by Jools mckenna

Michael Haselgrove Posted 10 November , 2019 Share Posted 10 November , 2019 I have enjoyed this thread and, to bring it back, I have posted the photo below from my collection. In the meantime, in case it helps, in my opinion, the helmet at #195 has the badge of the medical service? Regards, Michael.

Michael Haselgrove Posted 11 November , 2019 Share Posted 11 November , 2019 Tomb 1302, Yes, it is an interesting photo. It is an original print measuring 180 x 130cm and was purchased in France and given to me by a friend. I attach a photo of some pencil writing on the reverse together with a couple more photos in case they are of interest. Regards, Michael.
