gmac101 Posted 11 August , 2019 Share Posted 11 August , 2019 Visited the Fanad Head Lighthouse which has a great view of the space between Fanad Head and Dunaff Head at the mouth of Lough Swilly which is approximately where the Laurentic was mined in January 1917. The headland in the far distance is Malin Head. I also took a photograph of the WW1 era coastgaurd barracks and observation shelter that lie alonsgide the lighthouse. They have been in ruins since the 60's according to the guide. The last shot shows the entrance to Lough Swilly where the Laurentic had stopped to drop off some ill passengers. The red shades indicate to ships that that zone is hazardous.
