G.Driver 10thLF Posted 9 August , 2019 Share Posted 9 August , 2019 Ladies and Gentlemen! its time for.....NAME. THAT. SHELL! This shell was given to me by a farmer near Varlet Farm (Poelkapelle, Belgium) years ago and it has been sat in various boxes over the years. Just wondered what type of shell it was? Is it dangerous (e.g. gas?). Dimensions are length: ~23cm, diameter at base: 8cm. See attached pictures with penknife for scale. Thanks in advance, Graham
ss002d6252 Posted 9 August , 2019 Share Posted 9 August , 2019 If there is any doubt whatsoever on safety then the standard forum response would apply - do not play around with it and take professional advice. The forum cannot give safety advice. Craig
peregrinvs Posted 9 August , 2019 Share Posted 9 August , 2019 A fired British MkII 18 Pounder shrapnel shell casing. Almost certainly inert if empty.
