Remembered Today:

'Hippopotamus' 149 G Mountain Gun

Recommended Posts

An old programme (Series 2 Episode 4) shown in Yesterday channel's  Abandoned engineering seriesso this may well have been mentioned before - covers a surviving Italian 'Hippopotamus' 5.9"/149mm (cannone da 149 G) mountain gun, which took 78 days to get into position, left where it was fired on the Costa Croche ridge of the Italian Alps at the end of the GW which still appears to be in remarkably good condition today. Available on catch-up or on line (https://uktvplay.uktv.co.uk/shows/abandoned-engineering/watch-online/5817375905001)
